Blame it on the Mistletoe

Blame It On The Mistletoe - Eli Easton

Ohmigod!! That was so sweet! Such a wonderful Christmas read. I adore geek-fancies-jock-who-also-fancies-geek stories and whilst I am not a huge fan of GFY stories, this one I enjoyed…. maybe because it is a Christmas story, it just worked for me. I loved it ❤ I, too, am going to blame it on the mistletoe....

"Duck Duck Ghost" by Rhys Ford

Hellsinger #2 ...

It's on the kindle, baby!! Ready to roll...

BLURB : Paranormal investigator Wolf Kincaid knows what his foot tastes like.

Mostly because he stuck it firmly in his mouth when his lover, Tristan Pryce, accidentally drugged him with a batch of psychotropic baklava. Needing to patch things up between them, Wolf drags Tristan to San Luis Obispo, hoping Tristan’s medium ability can help evict a troublesome spirit haunting an old farmhouse.

With Wolf’s sister handling Hoxne Grange’s spectral visitors, Tristan finds himself in the unique position of being able to leave home for the first time in forever, but Wolf’s roughshod treatment is the least of his worries. Tristan’s ad-hoc portal for passing spirits seems to be getting fewer and fewer guests, and despite his concern he’s broken his home, Tristan agrees to help Wolf’s cousin, Sey, kick her poltergeist to the proverbial curb.

San Luis Obispo brings its own bushel of troubles. Tristan’s ghost whispering skill is challenged not only by a terrorizing haunting but also by Wolf’s skeptical older cousin, Cin. Bookended by a pair of aggressive Kincaids, Tristan soon finds himself in a spectral battle that threatens not only his sanity but also his relationship with Wolf, the first man he’s ever loved.

Seth and David - L.B. Gregg

As part of the celebration for LB Gregg’s new Smithfield book, Sam and Aaron, we (at LYLBTB) decided to have an LB Gregg week!! We decided to revisit all the previous Smithfield books and each pick which book we wanted to review. There was never a doubt for me. Seth and David are my favourite couple in this series. Seth being my favourite character. What? I love an arsehole :-P and as arseholes go – he reigns supreme!

The opening chapter is such fun! Imagine your regular visit for that much needed massage … only this time it is not with your usual masseuse. No. This time it is someone new. And this new person has hit the spot in a way the previous visits haven’t come close to. :-D The masseuse, David, is mortified. Seth, not so much.

Son of a Fish

Son of a Fish - Kenzie Cade

A "Live Your Life, Buy The Book" Review

This is an amazing book! I am trying to ignore the fact that this is a first time published book for this author. That’s right – Kenzie Cade is a fledgling author; and wow! She is going to soar! I am sooooo looking forward to more books from this very promising new author.

I picked up this book thinking it would be sports oriented. I love sports books!!

I soon discovered that one of the MC’s is a firefighter. I love firefighters!!

Neither of these themes were what impressed me with the book though. :-D

Gay-for-you and friends to lovers are not my usual pick when looking for a new book – I often find the scenarios played out to be a bit cliché or just not believable, but in this book the author has done a bang up job with both tropes. I totally loved Noah and Cooper as individuals, and as a couple? They were dynamite!!

Mark of Cain

Mark of Cain - Kate Sherwood

A "Live Your Life, Buy The Book" Review

Lucas Cain is 22 and has been in prison for 3 years after killing a man in a bar fight. He has just got early parole, and is now a free man once more. But he has changed. Understandably so. He kept his head down in prison doing what he needed to do to survive and he is determined to not go back. As his crime was drink related that is one of the terms of his parole. No alcohol. Others are a 9pm curfew, a place to live, and a job. So, to his old friends, he is now dead boring. And oh my God this broke my heart. He is so desperate to tow the line, follow the rules, stay free – and yet everything works against him. :-(

Wrapped Up in Chains

Wrapped Up in Chains - Cindy Sutherland

A "Live Your Life, Buy The Book" Review

What a wonderful, sweet and charming story this was..... don't let the cover or blurb mislead you! It kicks off with a scene in Devon’s BDSM club – and I though “Oh yeah! Now this is what I am talking about!” as Devon strutted onto my kindle :-) unfortunately it was not for a scene of his own, but to break up a scene in the club that had gone too far. A Dom was punishing a sub for some reason, and the guy was out of control – Devon quickly steps in and rescues the sub, Chase, and pretty much as soon as Devon sees Chase – it is game, set and match. He will be his. I love that instant lust. That ownership.

It may be said that I am the 5 star Queen, here at LYLBTB . . . .  but I don't care. When I love , I love LARGE!! I also do not let word count get in the way of my 5 star gushes... and this story is just that! A short-story-5-star-gush-a-thon!! ❤

A "Live Your Life, Buy The Book" Review

As is stated in the blurb above – this book is part of an ongoing series. I haven’t read any of the previous books, and I managed fine – no more confused than I normally am :-P What I do know is that the first few books in the series were solely m/f; then the last book (prior to this one) was m/f/m. Was this a testing of the waters before the author went all out with an m/m? Maybe. Did she pull it off?? hmmm, not so sure …..

Broken Pieces

Broken Pieces - Riley Hart

Feel like the odd one out. Sadly this story didn't blow me away (like I had hoped) good moments but every time I felt it was going to fly... it went flat. Sometimes a book needs editing to trim it down, for me this book needed more - it felt at times like a rush to the finish line; almost like I was skim reading, when I wasn't.

I absolutely adored this book! Definitely one of my favourite "feel good" books. Ever!! It was perfect. Just perfect ♥ Normally I don't particularly like swishy MC's but Matty swished his way right into my heart! Him and Rob were just delicious together.

A "Live Your Life, Buy The Book" Review

I always look at Scarlet Blackwell’s books – I loved Inferno and the Just Desserts trilogy – so I was quick to grab this story when it showed up for review. But, it is a really tricky book for me to now write up – you know when a book is good. It is well written. The characters seem real, and yet… it just doesn’t grab you. This was that book for me.
