A "Live Your Life, Buy The Book" Review

Oh. My. God! I just loved this book soooo much!! It was such a fun read – sexy too! I always love the quirky characters that ZAM creates – and this story has the added bonus of two of my very favourite things – a Brit and a rock star! And when the Brit IS the rock star – well yeah, I went GASP! … once or twice!

Nigel Gasp is almost 40 and feeling like it as all over for him. His best friend and manager, Dee, is pregnant and moving on to a new phase in her life – and as for him? It just all seems to be downhill. Done it all, seen it all. So what’s an aging rocker to do? He plays up, of course. He runs wild!! Antics that have Dee calling in her brother Jeff, to play baby sitter / bodyguard while she is on maternity leave. Of course there is more to this little triangle – Jeff has had the hots for Nigel since he was a kid, and now here he is - 6ft4, ex military, and still fancies this little Brit like crazy! Jeff sees right through the cry for help that Nigel is making and sets about helping him sort his shit out….. first off by throwing him in the lake! Jeff expected to be fired for that – but just the opposite happens – the guys bond…. And so the fun begins!!

Nigel has lived this life for a very long time – and has resorted to all kinds of things to escape the monotony of life as a rocker on the road, trapped in hotel rooms or tour buses – as luxurious as the accommodation may be – it is still like a prison at times. So, he sneaks out. He dons a disguise and goes to a pub or a club incognito. Sometimes he still gets recognised – but this only fuels the adrenalin kick he gets from it. What he never expected (and nor did Jeff) is how on board Jeff would be with this added facet of the enigma that is Nigel Gasp. And I fricking loved it!!! I am not sure what it says about me, but I am sad to hear about the retirement of Keiko the Kitten :-P

Jeff is just gorgeous – so honest and upfront. They often play truth or dare – and the honesty between them is just delightful. Jeff is fresh from his last tour in the military – at a crossroads in his life, not knowing exactly what he wants to do – but he does know he wants to go back to school, and get a job. Put down roots. Nigel lives his life on the road and has more money than he knows how to spend, but Jeff will not be a kept man - something has to give - they certainly have a few issues to work out along the way. In saying that, Jeff really gets Nigel – he is so understanding of his need to let loose every now and then – there are times where the two of them bump heads about this lifestyle. Jeff is not, and will never be a party boy – so he leaves Nigel to his clubs and his dancing – and any time they do fall out about it… and they do!!… ZAM doesn’t drag it out. There are no lengthy misunderstandings that are just there as manufactured angst.

This really was the perfect little read for me. It made my flight from USA to Australia fly by! If you like fun and sexy reads then you will LOVE this one! Go. Buy the book!!
